particular day, that means it should be in red zone, but it shows green zone at time of market close with 0.50 paise up(change %).That means price is lower than the opening price of same day, instead of showing red, it shows green with profit of 50 paise up. how is it possible? IF i bought that share at rupees 100 at opening and sell that share at 99.70 at or near before market close, STILL IT IS PROFITABLE? please answer

Most markets are reported from Close to Close, not from Open to Close, so yes, a stock could close lower than it opened but still higher than the previous day's close, meaning it would show an increase in price.

For a particular stock to be traded in a day there are 4 prices related to it:

1) Open Price of the stock

2) Close price of the stock

3) Days High and

4) Days low for that particular stock.

Now when you say a stock/index is positive or negative it is based on the previous day close price of the stock. For eg the previous day close is 100 then today if the stock close price is above 100 it is shown in green(positive) and if it is below 100 it is shown in red(negative) if if it is neutral means closes on 100 then no red or green. Hope it may help

It means the ABC stock closed on 99.20 yesterday. Today when market opened it traded at 100. When the day draw to close it fell to 99.70. So it closed higher (0.50) more than yesterday. Hence it was showed in green.
