I'm thinking about subscribing to an investment newsletter which could help me find good investment opportunities. What is your experience with the Motley Fool Stock Adviser (or "Hidden Gems" "Rule Breakers" "Global Gains" ... ) newsletter?

Do you know about another good investment newsletter? Which one would you recommend?

I subscribed to one of the news letters for a year. You will receive investment ideas. Some will be good and some will not be so good. They are human like the rest of us. The only suggestion I have is that you take each of the ideas and study it very carefully before you decide whether to commit yourself. I did not renew my subscription and I did not buy any of the stocks that were recommended. But I will say this. I had already previously purchased one or two of the stocks that had been recommended and some of their recommendations have done well. Some have not.

If you look at Hidden Gems or their Funds investor , you will see a very significant return but when you look at the last twelve months , for the most part, each pick has lost money. They take the total returns for the last 2-3 years - when the market was hot - and then give you their returns. The other thing they do is get a home run stock say a 75% increase for one month which then offsets the next seven months of losses.

They do not try to hide anything . They are completely honest and up front . Otherwise they would not show the bad with the good. But I agree with the other respondent that to make money you need to buy every monthly selection to catch the "homerun" pick and offset the bad ones.

I subscribe to their Retirement Rules " newsletter which has a model portfolio but does not try to pick stock monthly. This newsletter is one of the best I have ever subscribed to . It gives great advice, has excellent tools and welcoming message boards

I 've been a hidden gems member for two years now and it is diffecult to make money. In order to get the rate of return that they are getting you must buy every stock that they recommend each month. they always recommend two per month. If you just pick and choose one of there recommendations once in a while it becomes a tough task. you may win some and lose some. So if you buy two stocks per month that means 24 stocks after one year! Now you become a mutual fund because you own so many stocks! I have probaly broke even! I would not recommend hidden gems unless you have a lot of money to play with. Also, the russell 2000 small cap index is really stuggling in this market invirement and all hidden gems are small cap stocks. Good luck

Financial newsletters are a waste of money in my opinion. They only post the positive gainers that they have picked. The losers are swept under the table.

The people who write and edit these stock newsletters are highly educated, and have the ability to get you to subscribe with their slick writing style. However, I used to take their picks for many years, and they are no better than anyone else.

Motley Fool newsletters have a higher degree of honesty in my opinion. But I still think it is a waste of money.

If you just concentrate on long-term investing by using your retirement fund, DRIP plans you will come out way ahead.

Don't pay for mediocre advice........LOL...sorry...I got a little windy.

I have subscribed to many, many financial newsletters over the years, and honestly, their picks are not much better than the experienced investor on Yahoo.

Motley Fool is good. However, like everyone else, they have bad picks. But I like the straight forward, honest approach they take. So many of these financial newsletters only post their losers, and try to let the losers fade out of memory.

I would not pay more than $150 annually for any newsletter, and trust me, most of them charge much more than that.

My favorite Free site is :

low-cost-stock-recommendations.com

It is just information provided. My best suggestion is to make use of strategies like Retirement Plans and DRIP Plans and thing long-term.

Good Luck

I ve been burned by them enough times that it feels like a conspiracy. I have no proof other than multiple notices from my brokerage informing me of lawsuits against the companies that Motley Fool recommended. I mean, once can be a mistake on anybody s part. But time after time? That can only lead me to believe that Motley Fool somehow profits off of misleading investors into stocks they know will collapse. They come off as helpful advisors. But I think they re a gigantic scam.

Penny stocks are loosely categorized companies with share prices of below $5 and with market caps of under $200 million. They are sometimes referred to as "the slot machines of the equity market" because of the money involved. There may be a good place for penny stocks in the portfolio of an experienced, advanced investor, however, if you follow this guide you will learn the most efficient strategies https://tr.im/vt2dY

This penny stock service has years of proven experience. Ultimately it is the best service for beginners to use https://tr.im/pennystocktrading

You will have to wait between 3 and 10 days to get into the system in most cases. When I signed up it took 8 days. I wished it was faster, but if you can wait a week or two to start earn life changing money than you will have what it takes to make it in this business.

In general it's all covered by the "SeCReT" -Security- each of us has to know exactly where the other stands and has the assurance that they will never let them down. -everyday- -Conversation- real communication beyond a rhetorical "How was your day?" -Romance- if we all worked as hard to "get" our partner all the while we are with them, it would be "more better" -everyday -Touch- not just sex, but there's something about the meaningful touch of a loved one. Could just go back to Security to say, "I'm here with you." Specifically, no hiding the remote, or there will be a fracas.

In binary options you will have the possibility to predict the movement of various assets such as stocks, currency pairs, commodities and indices. Learn how you can make money trading binary options https://tinyurl.im/aH4z3 An option has only two outcomes (hence the name "binary" options). This is because the value of an asset can only go up or down during a given time frame. Your task will be to predict if the value of an asset with either go up or down during a certain amount of time.

They do a pretty good job, the draw back though is the TON of information you get... Subscribing to a service should make things easier and educational,, i felt like I spent so much time reading their mailings that I didnt have time for anything else. I like to read their ideas and then make my own choices. Maybe buy a position or two a year and hold indefinetely, a good company is a good company... You shoul check out www.thewallstreethunter.com they have something similiar, but also have a daily market outlook that aims to teach you things about the market,.... Good luck

The large majority of the financial newsletters are garbage. I say that because their picks are no better than yours or mine. Yes they do have good picks, but, they also have bad picks.

I can do that myself.

The best advice I can give you is to open a retirement fund or DRIP Plan. You will be able to sleep at night.

Both of these long-term strategies institute dollar cost averaging. The DRIP's reinvest your dividends free of charge in most cases.

Good Luck

These newsletters are great in a bull market.

Their advice doesn't work as well in a bear or sideways market. The market is struggling right now.

Good luck.

I subscribed to Motley Fool for a year... It was $149 and not worth it. It is a bad idea to try to buy and sell stocks on your own... better to just buy a well-diversified mutual fund and leave it be.
