I need a source of extra income. I can make an initial investment of $10,000. Have you had or currently have this type of business? Candy, soda, snacks, massage chairs, or what product would be best? Please give me an idea of what kind of sales / profit you earn so I can know what to expect if I put the vending machines in a good area. How much rent (if any) do you pay? Is it difficult to find a good place for them? Are location providers worth the cost? I'm aware that the answers could be "it all depends", but please try to give me some good insight. 5 points to best answer. Thank you.

Lola,

You are asking a lot for a place like this. It is hard to provide that much information in a few sentences.

I have done snack and soda vending, bulk vending, amusements, pay telephones and did it for 9 years became one of the top five vending companies in my state and did it all within 4 years of start-up.

However, I still did not take home a pay check. Had way too much debt to fund the growth.

To narrow it down to one type of vending is hard. They all made money.

Here are a few tips:

Pick a vending meathod in which you can compete. You need to be better than the next guy. Or offer something that no one else is offering.

Only buy machines that you can pay cash for: NEVER, NEVER, NEVER finance vending equipment. If will suck all the profit out of it and the only person that will make any money is the finance company.

Buy good quality equipment. Metal is stronger than plastic no matter how you look at it.

Stick close to home: with the price of fuel you don't want to drive long distance to fill/ collect your machines.

I hope this helps. thanks

Look for Difresh Vending Machines and Alcomatic Breath Alcohol Testers. This factory based in Spain gives Life Guarantee in every Machine and they are in more than 100 countries since 2000. The best is that they sell machines at their manufacturing cost and they have only few cent margin on their exclusive products. They show you how few money can be transformed in a high mountain of money. They have clients worldwide and very good references. You can find Difresh factory and Alcomatic Factory using internet. I have more than 1000 machines installed since 2002.

I would say find the location first and negotiate the cost to have the vending machine in place. Find out how much work it is to buy and restock the vending machine. Figure out the profit you may make before your invest your capital.

Also, if you only give five points, then you may never get an answer. Best answer gets 10 points.

location location location. I've heard horror stories about vandalism (they better work or will be kicked in) and outright theft if they are small (eg. gumball machines).

Maybe find a route for sale and in the case of candy machines monitor sales over the course of a day. I have fond memories of my father dropping me off at one location to count each candy bar in the machine to show him how many moved in the last 24 hours.

Really watch the quality of the machines. I knew a man who was really ripped off because his money bought machines that didn't last.
